If you house or apartment is on the market for sale or to let, you must have a BER Certificate
From 8th June 2010 any HSE grant applications under the Home Energy Saving Scheme will require a valid BER certificate. The homeowner must have the property BER test done after the works have been carried out in order to give the homeowner a clear indication of the energy efficiencies the extra works have provided.
A BER cert is required for each seperate application made so it is advisable to have all works and assessments undertaken at the same time.
The HSE are offering a €100 grant for the first BER cert itself so the new requirement is likely to cost the homeowner little.
